Cinema: Carte Blanche #1 given to Niki Lindroth von Bahr

To coincide with the exhibition "Les fables de Niki Lindroth von Bahr", the artist has been given Carte Blanche to share two films that have inspired her or which resemble her own artistic world.
Photo of two characters sitting on the ground in a stable, one grimmed as a clown and the other one as a cat, both looking sad.

First, Niki Lindroth von Bahr presents Gabriela Pichler’s first feature-length film Eat Sleep Die, which won many awards in Sweden (including 4 Guldbagge, the Swedish Oscars) and abroad (Mostra in Venice, Premiers Plans in Angers). All the main characters in the film are played by non-professional actors.

The young, energetic Raša, a Muslim Swede from the Balkans, loses her job and finds herself unemployed. With no qualifications and no resources, Raša has to cope with a Kafkaesque bureaucracy, a labyrinth of contradictory values and expectations.
