Deftly combining autobiography and fiction, Belleville Baby takes us on a lyrical quest for an experience that can never be relived. When she gets a call from Vincent, an old flame who disappeared many years ago, director Mia Engberg suddenly has disjointed memories of a torrid, dangerous love affair and the intense time she spent in Paris as a young woman.
When she finds out that Vincent has been released from prison, she decides to help him exorcise his past. Besed partly on moving phone conversations between the two former lovers, Belleville Baby makes brilliant use of personal video footage to attempt to reconstruct a love story that is both an unforgettable experience and a fantasy viewed through the prism of memory.

In 2013 Belleville Baby received the Award for Best Feature-Length documentary at the Tempo International Documentary Festival in Malmö and the Special Mention for Scandinavian Documentary at the Göteborg International Festival. It was awarded the Guldbagge (Swedish Oscar) for best documentary in 2014.
