A passionate coming-of-age tale set amidst the conservative confines of modern Tbilisi, the film follows Merab, a competitive dancer who is thrown off balance by the arrival of Irakli, a fellow male dancer with a rebellious streak.
Director Levan Akin was born in Sweden, with Georgian roots. He is interested in social class and gender. He has directed The Circle, Chapter 1: The Chosen Ones, inspired by the eponymous bestseller. He also directed Certain People, presented at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2012. He has directed several television series, including Real humans. Currently, he is finishing up a new Dough series, expected to debut in the spring of 2021.
