Svenska Fotobokspriset: 25 years of the Swedish photography book prize

As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations and our year devoted to the theme of friendship, the Institut Suédois is giving carte blanche to Fotoförfattarna/Svenska Fotografers Förbund, the Photoauthors/ Swedish Association of Professional Photographers, which is presenting 25 years of award-winning photobooks.
A row and a pile of photo books of different formats and colours.

For Swedish photographers who publish books, taking part in the annual Swedish Photobook Prize has become a must. Many artists, designers, publishers and of course, photographers such as Anders Petersen, JH Engström and Nina Korhonen, have received the award.

“Every photobook is a world full of associations, stories with different cultural meanings, and poetic spaces. In the exhibition, which features magnificent and unique books, you can see that there are no limits to what a photobook can be,” says Annika Thörn Legzdins, president of the Photoauthors/ Swedish Association of Professional Photographers.

The Photoauthors within the Swedish Association of Professional Photographers was founded in 1972. Its aim is to offer photographers who produce books more opportunities to develop their projects.

“Photobooks are ever-changing and exciting, immersive, absorbing and complex. They have an aura that creates a feeling of intense presence or mystery”, explains Annika Thörn Legzdins.

All the books on display are to be explored: please feel free to turn the pages.
