Tina is a customs officer at Stockholm Airport. She’s brilliant at her job thanks to her overdeveloped sense of smell, which allows her not only to detect tiny traces of illegal substances, but also to sense passengers’ secret feelings. This unusual ability is not the only thing that sets her apart from the rest of society: she’s also very odd-looking. One day, a man who looks equally strange called Vore passes through customs. She knows he has something to hide, but can’t tell what it is. Worse still, she finds herself weirdly attracted to him…
Ali Abbasi was born in 1981 in Teheran, where he attended Teheran Polytechnic before emigrating to Stockholm, where he studied architecture. In 2007, he moved to Denmark and trained as a film director at the National Film School in Copenhagen. He made several short films and the horror film Shelley (2016), before making his real breakthrough with Border (2018), which was awarded the Un Certain Regard Award in Cannes and many other accolades in the USA and Europe. His third feature film, Holy Spider (2022), was in official competition at the 2022 Cannes Festival and Zar Amir Ebrahimi won the Best Actress Award.
