The experience takes place in a circular space where visitors sit in the centre of the courtyard, enveloped by four sound sequences. Each lasts 5 – 10 minutes, allowing those present to explore their different dimensions. The volume is carefully adjusted to ensure complete immersion while remaining comfortable to listen to. More than broadcasting sounds, the idea is make the space into a soundscape.
The artists tm, Ash, Mari Mattsson and Stella Dieden Richter met at the Royal Institute of Arts in Stockholm. Working in both Paris and Stockholm, they explore the potential of sound. Using recordings and compositions in a range of natural and urban environments, their project titled Traversées sonores explores our relationship with space and the changes that affect it.
About the artists
Ash explores the metamorphoses of sound, making space into something that can be listened to. Technology allows her to reveal states of transition and coexistence in a single place. Her creations take the form of fragmented soundscapes where several realities can unfold.

Stella Dieden Richter explores factors that shape society – stability, decline, endurance and power – via sound, performance and installation. By interacting physically with materials and landscapes, she highlights tensions between industrial progress and natural transformation.

tm explores the notion of metamorphosis via creatures that develop in waste dumped in the River Ångermanälven in Sweden by the timber industry. To translate this into sound compositions, Tm uses on-the-spot recordings as well as voice and instruments.
Mari Mattsson explors uses sound composition to explore themes such as perception and imagination in relation to time and memory. His works often involved performing graphic scores where references, concepts and movements interweave within text and drawings.
