This unique musical experience, which converses with the exhibition and the garden, brings together emblematic figures who have fostered artistic exchanges between Europe and the US, such as American composer Alvin Lucier, Swedish composer Kent Oloffson, and Francoise Choveaux, a composer who trained in both Paris and New York.
The Ensemble Intercontemporain, with its 31 soloists led by conductor Pierre Bleuse, is devoted to performing music from the 20th century to the present. United by a shared passion for creative work, its members collaborate closely with composers and commission new works each year. Their creative journey thrives on innovation and draws from other forms of artistic expression including dance, theatre, video and the visual arts. The ensemble is deeply committed to education and outreach, training young performers and composers, organising educational concerts and running various cultural initiatives.
In residence at the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris, the Ensemble Intercontemporain performs both in France and abroad and is regularly invited to major international venues and festivals. In 2022, it was awarded the prestigious Polar Music Prize.
The concert at the Institut suédois is performed by Martin Adamek (clarinet), Marceau Lefèvre (bassoon), and Lucas Ounissi (trombone).
