Choir singing a cappella in the courtyard

From Debussy to contemporary Swedish music… the famous chamber choir from Hvitfeldtska High School in Gothenburg is giving an open-air concert in our courtyard!
The young people from the Choir are jumping happily in the air in front of what seems to be the High School building.

The Hvitfeldtska Gymnasiet, founded by Queen Kristina in 1647, is the oldest and largest high school in Gothenburg. Its conservatoire and chamber choir were founded in 1990. Since then, the choir has worked with many musicians such as the singer Alf Hambe, the pianist Stefan Forssén and the Kjell Jansson jazz quartet, and has toured all over Europe. It has performed in such emblematic venues as the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

The choir, which comprises 30 singers aged from 17 to 20, is currently led by Martin Bagge. Its répertoire embraces classical and contemporary music: Josquin des Prez, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Johann Sebastian Bach and Henry Purcell rub shoulders with contemporary Scandinavian composers such as Sven-Eric Johanson, Wilhelm Stenhammar, Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson and Einojuhani Rautavaara.
