Classical concert in the garden: Trio Troll

Satie, Roman, Bellman, Gade… the programme of this summer concert, just like the trio itself, is a perfect illustration of our anniversary year devoted to the theme of friendship between France and Sweden.
Three musicians in the garden of the Institut Suédois

In the early 1990s, the flautist Lena Gutke and the cellist Mimi Sunnerstam arrived in Paris from Sweden. They quickly formed the Trio Troll, and in the early 2000s they partnered with the French violinist Ludovic Balla, a member of the orchestra of the Paris Opera.

The trio in its Franco-Swedish form is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, after countless concerts performed not only in Sweden and France but also in countries further afield such as Brazil and the Bahamas.

Their repertoire is mainly Scandinavian, and they are often invited to represent Sweden at festivals and festivities in France. For this occasion they will also be performing French works in order to connect their own history, which spans two cultures, with that of the Institut Suédois, that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
