Sweden is synonymous with timber. From the air you can hardly see the towns for all the trees. Most of the timber goes to sawmills where it is sawn or planed into planks for the construction industry. Swedish forests constantly produce a sustainable and recyclable raw material. The little red cottage, emblematic of the traditional Swedish landscape, now rubs shoulders with avant-garde buildings—including the “mini timber skyscraper”. 10-15 per cent of new buildings in Sweden are made of wood, and this figure is constantly increasing. The photography exhibition presents eight recent projects that are symbols of Sweden – Welcome to Woodland!
