Every month, as part of its residency programme, the Institut Suédois hosts researchers and artists from Sweden in the six apartments on the upper floors of the Hôtel de Marle.
Just one year ago, in September 2019, the six apartments, each with a floor area of 22 – 38 square metres, were renovated by six pairs of brands working in collaboration with designers in order to create six different variations on the notion of hem in our 16th-century mansion. In Swedish, as in English, a dwelling can be referred to in two ways: hus (house), which denotes a physical locale and is somewhat impersonal; and hem (home), which suggests ideas of belonging, safety and comfort and has positive emotional connotations.
In the autumn, the Institut Suédois is once again opening its guest apartments to the public and, for one weekend only, offering guided visits for small groups organised by our mediation team.
Save the date! At the end of August, there’s an opportunity to win a guided visit to the apartments and fika for two in the Institut Suédois Director’s private apartment. Visit our social media platforms or those of our partner the Les Traversées du Marais festival to enter the draw!
In partnership with Paris Design Week and the Les Traversées du Marais festival.
