Meet the artist: Solveig Gustafsson and Pernille Silfverberg from Bohus Stickning

Come and listen and talk to two top knitters from Bohus Stickning, a real institution in Sweden whose sweaters were worn by Ingrid Bergman and Grace Kelly.

Established in 1939 to boost the economy of Bohuslän, a region in western Sweden, Bohus Stickning (literally “Bohuslän Knitting”) soon earned worldwide renown. Their round-necked woollen sweaters with complex motifs involving combinations of up to sixteen shaded colours rapidly became highly regarded for their quality. Almost 80 years later, the “brand” still exists; it continues to apply its basic principles (including the use of top-quality wool), and constantly innovates by inventing new patterns.

Solveig Gustafsson, former director of Bohus Stickning, and Pernille Silfverberg, who took the reins in 2014 and continues to maintain this part of Swedish heritage, will be talking informally to visitors in our pop-up bar. They will present various patterns and designs made over the company’s history, and sharing their memories. Feel free to bring your own knitting needles and wool to try out some Bohus Stickning patterns!

Admission free while places last. No need to book in advance.
In English and Swedish.
The two knitters will be at the pop-up bar between 6 pm and 8 pm: come when you wish and stay as long as you like.
Event organised in the framework of Next Level Craft and Swedish Design Moves Paris.
