The Company – what’s your story?

Welcome to Karl Andersson & Söner. We produce quality and design furniture since 1898. Together with talented designers, we make ‘‘sustainable and durable’’ furniture in the best Scandinavian design for personal homes and public spaces.

We are the fourth generation that honors our sustainable legacy. Our business concept is much the same as our father’s grandfather Karl Andersson formulated in 1898. Even then, he used the word “sustainable”. We have had that word in our business concept for over 100 years and for us it means that we conserve resources, are environmentally sound and that our products will last for several decades.

Working with renowned designers and using wood as our principal material, our ambition is to develop high-class furniture with a strong identity and a unique character that outlives fleeting trends. In that way we can continue to develop and produce furniture that has that little extra and that speaks for itself.

We intend to continue to be the little admirable company in Huskvarna, Sweden that produces sustainable and durable furniture in our own factory for another hundred years.

Handmade in Huskvarna. Since 1898.

The Product

The inspiration for Cap table (2014) and Cap podium (2021) design Roger Persson comes from those big wooden cable drums. Its name, however, is an allusion to the cap of a mushroom, as these tables can spring up like mushrooms in different sizes, heights, colors and variations to create all sorts of lively and highly individual settings.

Colo Chair design kaschkasch (2022) derives its name from the city of Cologne, which is home to the design studio behind this product. Karl Andersson & Söner wanted a chair that offered good seating comfort, both with and without a padded seat, and one that combined a high sensation of natural wood with elegant lines and an innovative design that ensured it was both versatile and linkable. The result was the folding Colo Chair – the perfect solution not only when flexible seating arrangements are required, but also for more permanent set-ups in lunchrooms, cafĂ©s, restaurants, canteens and conference rooms.

Lollipop bowl design Malin Lundmark (2019) is a part of a family of pedestal tables you can furnish a lounge with pieces in different heights and complement them with greenery in matching planters to breathe extra life into a room. As before, all the items share a design based on circles and spheres.

The round seat of Milo design MÄns H Sjösted / Yellon (2020) bar stool is perfectly symmetrical, which makes it easy to place the stool in any setting and ensures that Milo looks inviting and is fully functional from every angle. The proportions of the seat and the fact that it is fashioned in solid wood mean that it is possible to incorporate a concealed fitting for a swivel function and backrest. The gridstyle footrest not only adds an extra dimension of comfort thanks to the flexibility it offers in terms of how and where users choose to rest their feet, but it also contributes to the stability and durability of the construction and gives the stool its own unique personality.

Malin Lundmark derived her inspiration for Lollipop (2014, 2019) from the classic coffee-cup saucer – here the table itself becomes the “saucer” for your cup. Lollipop is the ideal solution for coffee breaks and all those other occasions when it’s handy to have a small table that’s easy to move to where it’s needed. The outsize ring is a useful handle but also adds to the light-hearted expression of the table. In 2019 the Lollipop series was extended with more new family members, all of which share the same playful personality: a small coffee table, a bar table and planters of various heights.
