Family weekend: Welcome Alphonse Aubert!

To celebrate the arrival in France of Alphonse Aubert, the hugely popular Swedish children’s book character (known as Alfie Atkins in English), the Institut Suédois is organising a weekend of events entirely devoted to him!

The first Alphonse book was published in 1972, and since then the character has delighted generations of readers not only in Sweden but also in some thirty other countries. Alphonse is now being published in French!

To mark the occasion, the Institut Suédois is providing families with the opportunity to discover Alphonse’s little world. A mini-exhibition tells the story of the character around the world, and creative workshops for children will focus on the first two books published by Éditions de L’Étagère du bas at the beginning of September: Bonne nuit, Alphonse! and Bien joué, Alphonse!

There will also be a reading corner and games inspired by the world of Alphonse. The first two books will be available for purchase.
