Hilma af Klint – The Temple. A virtual reality experience

To coincide with the launch of the seventh and last volume of the Catalogue Raisonné of the work of Hilma af Klint (Stolpe Publishing), a virtual reality experience inspired by the Temple she had envisioned to house her artworks immerses us in her world.
Abstract work by Hilma af Klint

Although Hilma af Klint (1862 – 1944) remained almost unknown for many years, she is now compared with the greatest modern painters and her work is seen as revolutionary. Almost 80 years after her death, she holds a significant place in the history of early abstract art in Sweden and worldwide.

Hilma af Klint dreamed of a building in the form of a spiral to house her most important work. She sometimes referred to it as a place of worship, sometimes as a museum. In any case, the visitor was supposed to attain a heightened level of awareness when looking at her paintings. This experience is now made available thanks to virtual reality.

Hilma af Klint – The Temple was designed by Daniel Birnbaum and Kurt Almqvist and produced by Marika Stolpe. The virtual experience was produced by Acute Art, and it is distributed by Stolpe Publishing. Art director: Rodrigo Marques. Music: Andrew Sheriff.
