Jazzycolors: Mattias Nilsson & Marcel Palonder

Jazzycolors is celebrating its twentieth anniversary! This year, to coincide with this jazz festival organised by the FICEP (Forum des Institut Culturels Étrangers à Paris), the Swedish pianist Mattias Nilsson will be performing with the Slovakian singer Marcel Palonder at the Institut suédois for one evening only.

With over a thousand concerts in 32 countries under his belt, Mattias Nilsson (born 1980) has become one of the best-known Swedish pianists in the world. He draws his influences from jazz, folk and classical music, embracing Scandinavian folklore and a certain Nordic melancholy. His improvisations full of warmth conjure up a uniquely nuanced musical landscape.

Marcel Palonder has been a well-known member of the Slovakian music scene for over three decades. Along with other Slovakian jazzmen, in 1990 he established one of the first post-revolutionary jazz clubs in Bratislava. In 2005, he founded Tango Ultimo, a unique tango-jazz band, before moving a few years later to Paris, where he has collaborated with musicians of all nationalities. At the same time, he has performed at major festivals such as Glastonbury.
