L’Étoile du Nord: Nordic Film Fortnight

This festival, which presents (very) short films and feature films, focuses on how humour can help us to discover Scandinavian societies. This year the spotlight is on Sweden: of the 22 films being screened, 9 are Swedish. Two of them are being presented in collaboration with the Institut suédois.
A young boy is standing next to a young girl and watches her carefully while she's reading a letter.

Run Uje Run (Spring Uje spring in Swedish): A feelgood film about Parkinson’s disease

An autobiographical musical with Uje Brandelius, a Swedish pop musician, based on his one-man-show on the subject. Uje is the leader of a pop group who dreams of making a new hit, but life has other plans… He approaches his illness with humour and humanity.

  • A film be Henrik Schyffert
  • With Uje Brandelius and his family
  • 2020 / 1 hr 20 mins
  • Three Guldbagge Awards in Sweden in 2020: best film, best screenplay and best actor and Audience Prize at Göteborg Film Festival

Sune versus Sune: A film for all the family

A film for all the family based on the books of Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson, which are very popular in Sweden. At the end of the holidays, ten-year-old Sune discovers a new boy in his class. He’s called Sune, and he’s just arrived from the USA. Sune’s life changes from that moment on as the new Sune will take his place…

  • A film by Jon Holmberg
  • With Elis Gerdt, Baxter Renman and Tea Stjärnes
  • 2018 / 1 hr 30 mins / in Swedish with French subtitles
  • Suitable for children 7 years old and up.

These two films are part of the Institut Suédois Film Selection! The films on the list are available for screening at cultural events and festivals in France (subject to copyright and conditions). • Do You Have The Shine? By Johan Thurfjell, a remake of Shining as a video game.
  • Make a Wish (Önskedrömmar) by Jonatan Etzler
  • Svonni vs the Swedish Tax Agency (Svonni vs skatteverket ) by Maria Fredriksson: a total lack of understanding between the Samis and the Swedish tax authorities.
  • Paddy la petite souris (Gordon och Paddy) by Linda Hambâck, an animated film for tiny detectives.

On Friday 25 February, when the Festival draws to en end, there will be a Nordic evening with music (ABBA), a borealis bar, a sauna and low-impact aerobics. Two other films will be screened:

  • Ten Meter Tower (Hopptornet) by Axel Danielson and Maximilien Van Aertryck
  • The Swimmer (Badaren) by Jonatan Etzler
